Maureen Riehl

Principal & Counsel, MultiState

Maureen Riehl joined MultiState as Principal and Counsel in 2015 and leads the Strategic Government Relations team. A veteran state and federal government relations and public affairs professional, she previously served as head of government affairs at the Council On State Taxation (COST). Maureen currently sits as the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the NCSL Foundation for State Legislatures, and is active in multiple legal, association and state policy organizations. Prior to COST, Maureen worked with the National Retail Federation, the International Franchise Association, the Grocery Manufacturers Association, a coalition of advertising associations, and the leadership of the Michigan House of Representatives, and Michigan Senate.


She is a proud Spartan fan, and holds dual degrees from Michigan State University (political science and communications) and a J.D. from Thomas Cooley Law School. She resides in Fairfax, VA with her ever-supportive husband and two ever-growing sons (when they are home from college).
